Patients can start the conversation with our Total Eyewear team, visit Ideal Eye Surgery for their comprehensive refractive evaluation and surgery, and then return to us for your scheduled post-operative care.
The co-management process is designed to keep patients connected to the eye care team they already know while giving them access to specialized refractive surgical care.
1. Start with Total Eyewear
Patients interested in LASIK or another vision correction procedure can talk with our Total Eyewear team about their goals and whether a refractive surgery evaluation may be appropriate.
2. Referral to Ideal Eye Surgery
Total Eyewear helps connect interested patients with Ideal Eye Surgery for a comprehensive refractive evaluation
3. Personalized Vision Correction Evaluation
Ideal Eye Surgery evaluates the patient’s eyes, prescription, lifestyle and vision goals to determine which treatment option may be appropriate. Options may include LASIK, Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK), ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens), or Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE).
4. Surgery with Ideal Eye Surgery
If the patient is a candidate and chooses to move forward, they will come to Ideal Eye Surgery for their procedure.
5. Post-Operative Care with Their Optometrist
After surgery, patients return to us at Total Eyewear for their scheduled post-operative visits: POD1 (post-operative day 1), POW1 (post-operative week 1), and POM1 (post-operative month 1). Ideal Eye Surgery remains available throughout recovery while we continues your scheduled post-operative care.
LASIK is not the right procedure for every patient. Depending on the patient’s prescription, eye health, age and goals, Ideal Eye Surgery may also discuss other vision correction options, including PRK, ICL and RLE.
The goal is to help each patient explore the option that may best fit their individual needs.
